Team Zekert Debuts the Booble Race Car!
The Booble race car had its maiden race this past Saturday and Sunday, May 7 and 8, at the Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis, MO and by all accounts it was a huge success. On results in a race group with more than one class, Car #45 finished 21st overall and 3rd in the GTLite class. Sunday’s race sounded pretty white-knuckle. According to Peter Zekert (the car’s driver), “Next race at Memphis, the race groups are a little different. Our 4 cylinder GTL cars will race with much bigger GT3; V-6 powered GT2; and the very big V-8 GT1 cars. The big cars pass us so fast that being overtaken is a dangerous part of the race. 160-180 mph versus our 120 mph top speed.”
Peter and crew were overwhelmed by oglers and race-car enthusiasts who were spellbound by those Booble boobs — or perhaps just incredulous at the audacity of someone who would put them on their race car. Numerous people were so enthused by Zekert’s pluck, however, they requested to have their photo taken with the car — as if an opportunity this bizarre was too good not to document. This is probably akin to having your photo taken with the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile, but it’s sex, so it’s different. (Have you seen the Weinermobile? Put a condom on that thing!).
When word got out about Zekert’s Booble sponsorship, replete with naked cartoon breasts on his car, officials at the SCCA were not pleased. The board of directors immediately requested that Zekert replace the Booble boobs with “oo”s, or at the very least, cover them up. Fans who found this reaction from the SCCA quite amusing ran out to buy bicycle streamers as makeshift tassels for the “nipples” on the Booble boobs. Another woman (a woman, mind you!), who was also miffed at the SCCA’s response, thought it would be an even more appropriate response to place a “censored” bar across the boobs. Peter obliged and raced all day Sunday with “censored” across the boobs portion of the Booble logo. That really ticked off the SCCA. Needless to say, the next time Peter races, look for his car to have the Booble logo with cleverly placed checkered flags across the boobs, similar to the Booble racing logo.
